Take the Lead

There are many opportunities for students to play a full and active role in contributing to the future success of Burnley College by taking on key roles and responsibilities. It’s a great way to learn new skills, build your self confidence and meet other students, as well as helping to boost your application to university or employment. With all the roles available, you will receive full training and be supported to make a difference to the College community. 

Student Governors
Enhance the Student experience and influence decision-making in this high-level position. As a Student Governor you will be focussed, articulate, confident and reliable, utilising these attributes to work closely with governors and senior managers to influence the future of learning in Burnley whether that is developing additional student activities and programmes; investing in learning spaces or even feeding back the opinions of the student body. It’s an unmissable opportunity to enhance your CV; gain invaluable knowledge and skills about management and really make a difference.
Student Ambassadors
These are the link between our Students and the public, partners within the community and potential students. You can also get involved in academic mentoring at schools, marketing projects, enrichment activities and volunteering, health and wellbeing support and health and safety. It’s a vital role with a high degree of responsibility, and the ideal opportunity to improve your communication and networking skills, which is why it will be impressive on your application to university or your CV.
Student Representatives
There are Student Representatives selected in each division and class to give feedback to Tutors and managers on teaching; activities they have enjoyed or would like to see and suggestions for additional learning resources. It is one of the key platforms for the Student Voice, a vitally important part of our College.
